Soul Food Dinner Ideas For the Busy Woman

Soul food dinner ideas comes in handy especially if your boss ask you to work overtime, you have to pick you daughter up from soccer practice and the freeway traffic is packed. By the time you get home you want a fast, convenient and healthy way to give your family a balanced meal. Here's some simple ideas to give your family a tasty home cooked meal if you're busy.

1. Look For Soul Food Recipes Online.

You can get many soul food recipe ideas online with the click of a mouse. As the demand for more convenient ways to prepare meals grows, you'll find more websites working to meet this demand. Trust me, the resourceful homemakers of today are using this tool like you wouldn't believe. Many southern dishes can be time consuming if you don't know the short-cuts to take.

2. Take Advantage of Video Recipes.

Video recipes are the new kid on the block. When it comes to seeing how the many soul food dishes come together, there's nothing like watching an expert do it. Video recipes continue to grow because of their effectiveness. It's much easier to watch a recipe being prepared than to read it. It's a simple case of show and tell. For example, you can get a clearer picture of how to clean and cook collard greens or make a southern peach cobbler by watching an expert prepare. Comparing a video recipe to merely reading the recipe and it's like night and day, especially if the recipe is complicated. Look for the video recipe site to grow by leaps and bounds in the coming year.

3. Cook on The Weekend or Off Days and Freeze.

This is a favorite solution to the busy housewife who has little or no time to spend in the kitchen on workdays. Taking part of your off day to cook for the week and freeze will give you the convenience of having a nutritious home cooked meal during the week.

4. Let Your Fingers Do The Soul Food Cooking.

This is another version of step 3 above. The only difference is instead of you spending an off day cooking nutritious meals and freezing them, you hire others to do it. Many restaurants are offering this service as well as supermarkets and other specialty caterers. Check your local phone directory or search engine for details.

5. Let Your Family Help.

One of the most under-utilized resources in helping you get soul food dinner ideas is your family. After you set down the basic rules (no pizza, chicken fingers or candy) your family can be a rich source of dinner ideas. You can even get them more involved by letting them help you in the kitchen. Make it fun and adventurous. Make your kitchen a place you bond with your children, they can not only help you create fond memories, they can be a source of help as well.

By taking the time to use these powerful soul food dinner ideas your meals will be more convenient, nutritious and satisfying as well.

The Most Popular Restaurant Copycat Recipes

Restaurant copycat recipes are gaining popularity all the time. As more and more people opt to cook meals at home instead of spending their dollars on restaurant food, there is a lot more demand for great recipes. Free restaurant copycat recipes are especially sought after because they mean you can cook your absolute favorite dishes at home, for a fraction of the price you would pay for them in the restaurant.

Some of the most popular copycat recipes are chicken recipes, especially fried chicken recipes. Perhaps you love Kentucky Fried Chicken recipes and you want to know how to give your chicken the same enticing aroma, crispy texture and delicious flavor

Copycat Recipes Versus New Recipes

There is a time and a place for using clone recipes or copycat recipes. Maybe you want to impress or surprise your family with a copycat dish or perhaps you have a craving for one of your favorite restaurant dinners and you just have to have but preferably without paying the restaurant price tag.

At other times it is nice to make different recipes because it is enjoyable to experience new meals and flavors, rather than eating something that you are familiar with.

Easy Copycats

Beverage recipes like Starbucks copycats are also popular and people love to make their favorite takeout food and fast food dishes at home and then marvel at how similar the taste is.

A lot of copycat recipes are much easier to make than you might think. The busy chefs and cooks in your favorite restaurants do not want to spend hours making complicated dishes and neither should you.

Easy restaurant copycat recipes mean you can make the best quality food for your family much more cheaply than what you would normally have to pay for the same dishes and you have complete control over the ingredients and side dishes.

Recipe for Cavatini in the Style of Pizza Hut

The following easy copycat is for Pizza Hut Cavatini and this combination of pasta, steak, tomatoes, grape jelly and more tastes just like the original Cavatini recipe. This is just one example of how easy it is to make restaurant copycat recipes.

What you will need:

1/2 cup grape jelly
2 lbs ground round
4 cups pasta
28 oz sliced, stewed tomatoes
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
16 oz jar spaghetti sauce, meat flavor
6 oz V8 juice
1 1/2 packages onion soup mix
Provolone and mozzarella slices

How to make it:

Fry the ground round in the vegetable oil until it is totally brown, crumbling it using a fork. Turn the heat down to low then add the grape jelly, stewed tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, V8 juice and onion soup mix, stirring to mix everything together well.

Let the sauce cook for twenty minutes without boiling. Cook the pasta to al dente. Fill six au gratin dishes with alternating layers of sauce, pasta and cheese.

Restaurant copycat recipes mean you can make your favorite dishes in the comfort of your own home and without spending a fortune. The best copycat recipes mean that you and your family can enjoy your favorite dishes without having to go to restaurants every time you get a craving for your favorite fried chicken recipe.

The WeightWatchers program helps you create a new set of habits around how you eat and exercise that virtually guarantee that you will lose weight you need to and, best of all, enjoy this change process! Here's how to find recipes:

1) Join the W.W. website. If you're already a member and attending meetings, here's your chance to get instant access to hundreds of watchers recipes online. There is a monthly fee for the services of this website, but I personally found it very helpful in my weight loss process.

2) Look at the blogs of other WeightWatchers participants. They frequently post great recipes of different sorts. And being in the same boat as you are, the recipes are design for making the weight loss as enjoyable as possible. Search on sites such as Blogger and WordPress, that's where you'll easily find most blogs.

3) Pay a visit to Dottie's Weight Loss Zone. This is hands down one of the best resources on the web for WeightWatchers information. There you will find recipes, shopping lists, the points for each meal at certain restaurants and fast food joints. Just do a Google search for Dottie's Weight Loss Zone, and hop right in.

4) Allow Google to serve you. New sites on weight loss, fat loss recipes are being added every day, and if you just look for "Watchers Recipes" in Google you're bound to find something you like. There is really an abundance of recipes out there. A recommendation might be to bookmark only sights that are current and updated often. Reviewed on Dec. 26, 2008 by Kaitlyn   view full review This is absolutely delicious, especially served on a slice of homemade french bread!!! I did have a few changes to the recipe, however. First of all, I did not have any balsamic vinegar on hand, so I used red wine vinegar instead. Secondly, while pureeing the mixture, it became very dry, so I added water until it was the desired consistency. Other than those two changes, the recipe was fantastic! I made this for Christmas, and everyone loved it's amazing flavor! Was this review helpful? [ YES ]

Puerto Rican Food Recipes

I want to talk to you about Puerto Rican Food Recipes. A subject near and dear to my heart. Growing up my mom and my grandmother provided us with the daily food my family ate. Sometimes when you are accustomed to something you take it for granted. However, the first time I spent an extended time away from Puerto Rico I realized my home cooking was special.

If you are in a Puerto Rican restaurant or visiting Puerto Rico be sure to try some of these dishes:

1. Asopao de Pollo - A hearty chicken soup with rice. There are other variations like the one with shrimp or pigeon peas but for my money, the chicken is the one.

2. Mofongo relleno de camarones - This is a Meshed plantain dish that is usually a side dish but if you find the one stuffed with shrimp or seafood count yourself a lucky person.

3. Arroz con Pollo - Rice and chicken a Puerto Rican food recipe classic.

4. Carne Frita - Fried pork chunks. If you find a place that also adds some wilted onion on top this is a great find.

5. Chicharrones de Pollo - Deep fried chicken chunks, a tasty treat that can be eaten on its own as an appetizer or with rice and beans as a meal.

6. Pescado entero al Mojo Isleño - Whole fish with a tomato onion sauce. If you are in a coastal town in Puerto Rico and they have this on the menu you will be very happy you know about this great dish.

7. Tembleque - This is a treat it is like a light coconut custard that shakes like Jell-O. Hence the name tembleque, which can be loosely translated as jiggling.

8. Arroz con Dulce - Candied rice, another treat very common around Christmas but sometimes available the rest f the year.

So the next time you are in a Puerto Rican restaurant or home and you have the chance to taste any of these great Puerto Rican food recipes count yourself lucky and enjoy the meal.

Quick and Easy Food Recipes and How to Get Them!

How much money do you think you spend each week on eating out? If you are like me it is a ton! If not then congrats on a job well done! (Give yourself a nice pat on the back eh?!)

I used to spend way too much money on restaurants, and with the recent economy my whole family was really beginning to feel it. The thing is it is not like I did not enjoy cooking, in fact I love cooking!

I just am not that great of a chef.

So I began to look around and try to save money on restaurants, what I really needed though was some quick and easy food recipes to get me going.

I cut out a few from different magazines but it seemed to be really hit and miss, and honestly a bit more of the miss according to my family. I kept looking on wishing that I had got that cooking Gene that seemed to be in my family.

While talking to friends however I found that I am not the only one who has this problem. I learned a few good tips and here is my favorite.

Make sure to plan ahead. Every week make a meal plan, do this at the beginning of the week at the same time. This way you can get all of your shopping done and have everything outlined in nice and easy ways. This way also when you have those quick and easy food recipes they won't go to waste when you are looking for the eggs you forgot to buy.

In conclusion I believe the best place to get easy food recipes is not in magazines but in cook books or from parents. Magazines generally just use cheap recipes that take a lot of work and are not all that useful.

Instead invest in a good cookbook.

Now if you want quick and easy food recipes just check out the little lens I made here. It is all about a great cookbook.

Come Participate in the polls and check it all out I bet you will love it, leave me a comment too!

So Come Check out Quick And Easy Food Recipes!

Soul Food Recipes Update - Soul Food Recipes Adapting to Healthier Lifestyles

Soul food recipes continue to adapt to healthier consumer lifestyles. With the past reputation of high calories, salt and fat content, this tasty southern cuisine is taking on a consumer friendlier change. Now you'll find better cooking techniques, healthy ingredients and natural herbs and seasonings. To the delight of health professionals and medical experts, soul food cooking is lighter in calories, fat and salt than traditional recipes of the past.

Thanks to creative cooks, now a whole new industry continues to develop. Healthy soul food is now a fast growing industry with no end in sight. Restaurants are reworking their menus, manufacturers are developing new food products with less sodium, fat and calories. And book publishers are scrambling to publish books with health themes to meet the growing demand by consumers.

A new revolution is taking place with soul food recipes and the public is loving it. The biggest hurdle to these new changes have been keeping the recipes tasty, satisfying and flavorful. But with new cooking techniques, natural seasonings and herbs we've turned the corner and raised the bar and gave consumers the best of both world's. "But we continue to push forward and not rest on our laurels," admits one free soul food recipes publisher.

Here's examples of how soul food recipes are getting healthier for consumers.

Instead of using fat back and ham hocks to flavor vegetables such as collard greens, black eyed peas or cabbage, smoked turkey is used. By doing this over 50% less fat is consumed while still giving food the smoky robust flavor people love so much.

Instead of boiling collard greens or cabbage in large amounts of water for 1 to 2 hours and destroying nutrients and vitamins in the process. More cooks are stir frying these veggies. Stir frying has proven to save over 50% of food nutrients and vitamins. Instead of deep fat frying in fat. More meats are baked, roasted or pan fried. Thus, less fat content is absorbed in the meats. In addition, with roasting and baking much of the fat content is cooked out of the meats.

These are few examples of how soul food recipes are getting healthier. As more discoveries are made and techniques tested and developed, this trend is expected to continue far into the future. As the healthy eating demand continues to grow for consumers, the industry will continue to work to find ways to keep meeting the demand. Stay tuned!
