Angullong 2010 Sauvignon Blanc

Orange, NSW, $17

The story: Grown above the 600m mark in the increasingly noticed region, the aromatic whites here are showing a lively, fresh personality - this new vintage is a ripper, just topping its class at a recent small vignerons award.

The flavour: Lemon florals, zest and basil all mix it in the aromas, nicely entwining rather than one dominating; and likewise in the drinking - with good, crunchy refreshment the order of the day.

Rating: ****
4 out of 5 stars - a cut above
Value: Great
Verdict: A regional ambassador
